and to allow 100 percent of the tourist
activities to continue without impacting
the industry that is so important to
the area," said Williams.
Silver Star Resources chose the
Revenue - Virginius Mine for a number
of reasons. First, it is a Colorado company
and wanted to re- invest in
Colorado. Secondly, the owners of the
company enjoy visiting this area of the
state and wanted to work in a place
they liked. Thirdly, the historical
records of the Revenue Mine show a
potential for profit.
Silver Star anticipates 250 tons of
raw materials will be mined each day
and processed in an underground mill
onsite. Of the 250 tons, one semi -truck
load of concentrated minerals will be
driven down Camp Bird Road daily
and shipped to buyers out of state,
The Revenue - Virginius produced
silver, lead, zinc, copper and gold in
the past. Williams said Silver Star is
primarily mining for silver but will
process other valuable minerals.
Currently, the mining company has
one other mining operation in Cerro
Blanco, Peru, where there arc high
deposits of magnetite, ilmenite and
other minerals. San Miguel Power
Association installed a new powerline
to extend electricity onto the property.
The mining operation will not be putting
increased strain on the grid.
"We like to keep our operations at a
low number so that we can focus more
attention on each project rather than
spreading ourselves too thin," said
Williams.
Silver Star anticipates the mining
will continue for eight to 10 years.
"There is really no telling though. We
will continue mining as long as we
keep finding ore - -- plus one year to finish
reclamation of the site," said
Williams.
2
