•
•
J
2.05.4(2)(f)
(f) It is not planned to dispose of any acid forming,
toxic forming, or other materials which would create a fire hazard
at the mine.
There is a layer of gray shale above the first
minable seam that has acid forming characteristics. The concern
with regard to this problem is whether the material will be
suitable for subsoil. Blending of this material with other
overburden will often effectively dilute the acid forming charac-
teristics. After subsoil testing as outlined in Section 2.05.3(6),
unsuitable areas will be blended with other overburden or adequate
quantities of agricultural grade limestone will be mixed into the
subsoil to increase its pH.
Waste oil and grease will be disposed of in two
ways. During summer months some of the waste oil generated can be
added to diesel fuel and consumptively used. All other waste oil
and grease will be accumulated is metal storage containers and
periodically picked up by an approved waste oil service.
Waste paper, lumber, garbage etc. will be accumu-
lated in a container, dumpster, designed for that purpose and
periodically picked up by a commercial trash service.
The oil and grease, paper, lumber, garbage etc. will
be stored at the mine office facilities and parking area.
If sustained combustion of any of the above material
becomes a problem the applicant will be prepared to react
appropriately. Chemical fire extinguishers will be available in
the shop warehouse area and on mobile equipment. A water truck
will be available to respond to any problem area. Earth moving
equipment will be available to smother a fire if necessary.
(g) Drill holes, not completed to aquifers will be
sealed by replacing cuttings or other suitable media in the hole
and placing a suitable plug 10 feet below the ground to support a
cement plug or other media approved by the Division to within 3
feet of the ground surface.
Drill holes completed in non artisan aquifers will
be sealed using cement or other suitable sealant by placing the
sealant to extend 20 feet above and below the water bearing zone.
A surface plug will then be placed in accordance with the above
paragraph. The hole will be marked.
2.05-29
July 1992
