2.05.4(2)(e)
Species Diversity
The intention of the reclamation plan is to reclaim
the site to one community type and to de- emphasize the
contribution of wood plants. A single species diversity standard
is proposed based on the cover data collected for the native
grassland community. The following standard is based on the data
presented in Table 17 of the baseline survey for the native
grassland disturbed area and is consistent with the standards
described on pages 13 and 14 of the Divisions Vegetation Guide-
lines.
The species diversity standard for the reclaimed
areas in Mining Area Nos. 1, 2 and 3 shall be at least two warm
season perennial grasses, one cool season perennial grass and one
perennial forb with each contributing greater than 3 percent and
less than 40 percent relative cover.
Wood Plant Densit
Woody plant density standards have been discussed
with the Division, the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW), and the
surface owner Mr. Davis. Neither the DOW nor Mr. Davis want pinyon
46 pine, juniper or sagebrush to be seeded or encouraged by
reclamation. Furthermore, neither party has an interest in a woody
plant density standard being applied to the reclamation as is
evidenced by their letters contained in Exhibit 8. Therefore a
woody plant density standard will not apply to the site.
Grazing
The revegetated areas will be fenced to preclude use
of the area by domestic animals. A three strand barbed wire fence
or other similar fence will be utilized. Wildlife will continue to
make incidental use of the area following reclamation.
8
2.05 -28 October 1992
