RE: New Horizon North (Permit No. C- 2010 -089)
Adequacy Review PAP
Discrepancies in the PAP
Rule 2.04.10 — Vegetation Information
2.04. 10 - Vegetation Information —
1. Vegetation Sampling, page 2 — It is stated in the text "map was prepared at a map scale of
one inch equals 200 feet and has two -foot contour interval." The corresponding map,
2.04.10 -1 has contour intervals of 5 feet. Please correct text to say contour intervals of 5
feet.
2. Transect Locations, page 2 - A 50 meter tape was outstretched along a transect to gather
various plant data. This technique was described in great detail for the many different plant
communities and in the event an obstacle obstructed the transect. The transects are
documented on Map 2.04.10 -1 with a GPS accuracy of less than 1 decimeter. On the map,
the transects in the wetland areas are about 1/16" long while the transects in all other
vegetation types are about 1" long. Please explain why there is a difference in transect
length and describe the technique used.
3. Wetland, Shrub Density, page 18 — In regard to bullet #2 above, please explain the
technique used to determine 100 m belt transects with the shorter transects in the wetland
areas.
4. Irrigated Pasture Reference Area, Plant Cover, page 22 — The Irrigated Pasture Reference
Area is Map 2.04.10 -3, but is referenced as Map 2.04.10 -1 in the text. Please correct the
text to reference the correct map. Make the same correction in the Production section,
second paragraph, page 22.
5. Irrigated Pasture Reference Area Map (Map 2.04.10 -3) — The transect IPRA -38 is shown at
two locations on the map. Please remove the transect that is east of the reference area in a
housing community. Make the same correction for transect DPRA -31 on the Dryland
Pasture Reference Area Map (Map 2.04.10 -4).
6. Irrigated Pasture Reference Area Map — The Southwest corner of the reference area was not
included in the sampling because of overgrazing by horses. Please give an accurate
John W.
