RPM, Inc.
b) An estimate of the volume of tailings required to backfill the mine workings.
c) An estimate of the volume of cement to be mixed with the tailings.
d) A description of how the material will be backfilled and compacted.
e) Describe where the tailings material will come from and demonstrate that this
material will be available upon closure of the portals.
J) An estimate of the rate of water discharge from the portals.
g) The rate of slope of the portals.
Section 3.1.5 (6) of the Amendment Application is in error. Under this Amendment, no on -site
processing will occur. Run of Mine (ROM) ore will be shipped off -site for processing. A
planned subsequent permit revision will address on -site processing and disposal of waste
material. Section 3.1.5 (6) has been revised to correct the error.
3.1.5 Reclamation Measures — Materials Handling:
(6) Any drill or auger holes that are part of the mining operation shall be
plugged with non - combustible material, which shall prevent harmful or
polluting drainage. Adits and shafts should be closed, and where practicable,
backfilled and graded in a manner consistent with the post mining land use:
NO ON -SITE PROCESSING IS PROPOSED UNDER THIS AMENDMENT APPLICATION. RUN OF MINE ORE
(ROM) WILL BE SHIPPED OFF -SITE FOR PROCESSING. All adits and ventilation shafts will be
closed according to the Inactive Mine Program standards and specifications. We -de-net
support. THE CROSS MINE PORTAL WILL BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO DRAIN AT A RATE EQUAL
TO OR SIMILAR TO ITS PRESENT CONDITION ONCE MINING AND WORKINGS DEWATERING IS STOPPED.
DRAINAGE FROM THE CROSS MINE DECLINE PORTAL MAY ALSO OCCUR ONCE MINING OPERATIONS
CEASE AND THE MINE WORKING ARE ALLOWED TO FLOOD. DRAINAGE FROM THE CROSS DECLINE
PORTAL, IF IT OCCURS, AND THE EXISTING CROSS PORTAL DISCHARGE WILL BE ROUTED THROUGH
DITCHES TO POND #2. POND #1 IS PROPOSED TO BE REMOVED AS PART OF THE RECLAMATION PLAN.
POND #2 WILL REMAIN. GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE HOST ROCK, NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN
HISTORIC WATER QUALITY IS EXPECTED. THE PROPOSED CLOSURES ARE NOT INTENDED TO
PROHIBIT MINE DRAINAGE, RATHER TO SECURE THE PORTALS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY. Therefore, the
proposed entrance closures should be adequate.
RPNI, Inc., 9050 Old Tom Morris Cir., Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 Phone: (303) 854 -7499 FAX:(303) 660 -3852 Email: hlhumphriesra comcast.net
