Special security
systems are in place to protect the public and wildlife. The
Division is working closely with the company at the site.
The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board will hear the
violation at a formal public hearing during its April 22-23 Board
meeting in Denver.
The Mined Land Reclamation Board (MLRB) was created in 1976
to carry out the mandates of the Mined Land Reclamation Act. The
seven-member board, appointed by the Governor, works with the
staff of the Mined Land Reclamation Division of the Department of
Natural Resources to regulate mining operations through
permitting, inspection and bonding procedures. The act is
designed to make sure that mining in the state is conducted in an
environmentally sound manner and that land is reclaimed so that
it can be used for other purposes once mining has been completed.
