Page 7, Item 11(G)(1) — Downgradient Bedrock Monitoring Well Installation
The monitoring wells were originally scheduled for installation in 2010. Please provide a revised
schedule for completion of these two monitoring wells.
RESPONSE:
The proposed downgradient bedrock monitoring wells will require new disturbance to re -open a
previously reclaimed road. It is the operator's understanding that this new disturbance may
require an amendment to the mine plan. Contingent on the approval of the mine plan
amendment and the availability of a drilling contractor with a buggy- mounted or track - mounted
drill rig, the monitoring wells could be completed within four to six weeks after approval by
DRMS. A proposed schedule is provided below.
RESPONSE:
TASK
DURATION DATE
(Days) COMPLETE
TASK 1 - Permitting (Mine Plan Amendment) & Approval
Stake proposed locations in the field, calculate disturbance,
prepare and submit amendment (AM03) to the mine plan for
new disturbance 21 5/31/2011
Approval of Mine Plan Amendment 30 6/30/2011
TASK 2 - Prepare RFP 7 7/7/2011
TASK 3 - Bid Process & Contractor Selection 24 7/28/2011
TASK 4 - Permitting DWR (Notice of Intent, Form GWS -51) 3 7/28/2011
TASK 5 - Site preparation
Re -open road with dozer, excavate drill pad 7 8/4/2011
TASK 6 - Well Installation & Completion 17 8/21/2011
Page 7, Item 11(G)(2) — Downgradient Bedrock Monitoring Well Installation
On Page 15 -16 the EPP states that water quality sampling "could also be performed" in the
proposed monitoring wells. The Operator must commit to quarterly water quality monitoring of
the wells, for the standard monitoring well analytical suite that is already in place, until notified
otherwise by DRMS.
Cotter will sample the wells on a quarterly basis using the DRMS- approved analytical suite.
3
