Reclamation Plan
the channel in this area will thankfully become a very small problem. The slope above the stream
prior to mining had overhanging rock near the top as well as large volumes of scree for the entire
length of the remaining slope where the landslide had occurred. Prior to mining there was some risk
that another landslide could occur and that would have dammed the stream causing problems
upstream from this area and potentially problems downstream depending on how deep the new
material was. Thus, although the rock spill was an unfortunate event and disturbed land that was not
intended to be disturbed, in another sense the need to rehabilitate the disturbances provided an
opportunity to establish some new conditions and remove a long term problem with continued
blockage of the stream from creep in the talus slope combined with major rock falls from
overhanging rock far up the slope.
Menzer Quarry Corrective Action Amendment Exhibit E October 2011 Page 7
