Mr. Romig
August 6, 2001
Page 2
2. A shutoff valve was added to the sump inlet pipe to allow complete draining
of the sump.
3. The removal of sludge in the two existing upper ponds, and replacement of
the culvert connecting the two ponds, was postponed until the summer of
2001. This was due to the need to incorporate additional environmental
protection precautions during the dredging process.
4. Sonneborne HLM5000 Surface Waterproofing System was installed on the
upstream face of the new and existing cutoff wall for a distance of 75 feet
on the southwest end. This measure was taken as a result of stress cracks
that were observed in the existing wall in this area. The flexible sealant will
seal the cracks and prohibit the leakage of water through the wall.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide design and inspection services on
this project. If you have any questions, or require additional information, please
call.
SMM:smm
Encl.
Cc: Ron Valentine, Climax Mine
Sincerely yours,
W. W.
