. prevent inflow of surface water or entrance of other material into the well. In addition, <br />they will be fitted with caps to prevent introduction of foreign objects, other than <br />monitoring and sampling equipment, into the well. When groundwater monitoring wells <br />are no longer needed or required for any purpose, each well will be sealed in accordance <br />with the measures described above. <br />Removal of Surface Structures <br />Embankment and Impoundments. The hillside spring water will be channeled to the River <br />after the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment finds that the hillside <br />spring water treatment pond is no longer needed and after the appropriate channel <br />designs are submitted to and approved by the DRMS. <br />All embankments and impoundments will be completely removed and reclaimed after the <br />termination of mining activities. The hillside spring water treatment pond will be reclaimed <br />after it is no longer needed. Water will be pumped from the treatment pond and the <br />embankment will be allowed to dry as needed. The treatment pond embankment will be <br />pushed into the pond to establish approximate original contours. The area will then be <br />revegetated in a manner similar to the proposed revegetation plan described below. <br />• The sedimentation pond will not be removed until the affected area serviced by the pond <br />has been restored, vegetation requirements met, the quality of the drainage entering the <br />pond meets applicable Federal and State water quality requirements and the removal of <br />the pond is authorized by the Division. Upon removal of the sediment pond and diversion <br />ditches, the affected land will be regraded and revegetated in a manner similar to the <br />proposed revegetation plan described below. <br />• <br />Mine Facilities. The portal complexes, shop warehouse complex, office, the coal handling <br />plant, and other related surface facilities have be removed from the site. The sites have <br />bee graded, topsoiled and revegetated in accordance with the procedures set forth in this <br />section. <br />All salvageable mining equipment was sold as used equipment or sold to a local scrap <br />dealer. No mining machinery was abandoned by the Operator. <br />The portal facilities were completely removed at the conclusion of mining. The conveyors <br />used to transport the coal from the mine portals to the loadout area were salvaged; the <br />conveyor structure supports were removed and the right -of -ways will be <br />MR-33 2.05 -31 03/14/11 <br />PPROVe.�> <br />
