i
The analysis of these emissions sources indicates that the estimated annual air
emissions will be as follows:
Parameter Tons Per Year
Hydrocarbons 1 to 3
Carbon Monoxide 30 to 40
Nitrogen Oxides 8 to 12
Sulfur Oxides 4 to 8
Combustion Particulates 1 to 3
Product Drying Particulates 35 to 50
These emissions and their sources will be permitted with the CDPHE, APCD.
D-6.2 WASTEWATER
D-6.2.1 Construction and Operations
The experimental pilot plant will not have any off-site wastewater discharges
associated with the production and processing of nahcolite. All process wastewater
discharges will be directed to the on-site evaporation ponds. The experimental pilot
plant operations will be a zero discharge facility.
During the construction and operation of the experimental pilot plant stormwater
runoff will be controlled through implementation of erosion and sediment control
measures. These measures will be in accordance to the Construction Stormwater
Pollution Prevention Plan.
D-6.3 SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTES
D-6.3.1 Construction
As part of construction activities typical solid wastes will be generated. These will
consist of paper, cardboard, cans, plastic, scrap pieces of wood, concrete and steel.
These materials will be placed in covered dumpsters and/or smaller trash containers
depending on the waste. They then will be removed by a contract hauler and
disposed in an approved area landfill.
If practical, recycleable wastes such as newspapers, glass, tin, plastic and aluminum
cans, will be placed in separate containers. The contract waste hauler then will be
required to deliver the material to an area recycling facility.
G:\LMW\78545.002\Reclamation\Reciamexh.DOC D-51
