Project construction is scheduled to start during August, 1999. The facilities initially built will <br /> be for the pilot plant and will be eventually expanded to accommodate the full production <br /> plant requirements. As indicated in Section 1, Description of Project Site, the experimental <br /> pilot production plant is anticipated to produce sodium bicarbonate at a 50,000 tpy rate. The <br /> pilot plant construction is anticipated to have the following schedule: <br /> • construction mobilization —August, 1999; <br /> • site access road construction —August to October, 1999; <br /> • site clearing, grubbing and topsoil salvage—August to October, 1999; <br /> • excavation for foundations —August to October, 1999; <br /> • drill ground water monitoring wells -August to December, 1999, <br /> • place foundations—August, 1999 to January, 2000; <br /> • erect and install process building — December, 1999 to July, 2000; <br /> • install process equipment— December, 1999 to May, 2000; <br /> • install aboveground piping —January to April, 2000; <br /> • underground utilities—September, 1999 to January, 2000; <br /> • build electric transmission line to site—June, 1999 to January, 2000; <br /> • install underground communications line to site—June, 1999 to January, 2000; <br /> • install underground gas line to site—June, 1999 to January, 2000; <br /> • install underground injection/solution mining wells —September, 1999 to June, 2000; <br /> • build product railroad loading facilities in Rifle— March to June, 2000; <br /> • build process wastewater ponds— May to August, 2000; <br /> • build water storage pond—April to June, 2000; <br /> • install septic tank and soil absorbtion system —June to August, 2000; <br /> • begin plant start-up—July, 2000 <br /> • begin operating plant and shipping sodium bicarbonate—August, 2000. <br /> As indicated in Section 1.6 Project Site Development, if commercially feasible the pilot plant <br /> will be expanded to accommodate a production of 75,000 tpy after approximately 5 years. <br /> G:\LMVV\78545.002\Reclamation\Reclamexh.DOC D-11 <br />
