for construction of all facilities which could come in contact with precipitation. These
facilities include the main access road, process plant, well field pipeline, well field
pipeline road, and well field drainage pond.
(11) Surface Water Quality Data
(11)(a) The water quality standards for Yellow Creek, the receiving stream, are protected
for agriculture only. Yellow Creek has no anti - degradation standards. Potential uses for
the receiving stream are irrigation, stock water, wildlife, and perhaps industrial.
(11)(b) Surface water quality and flow data will be submitted to the DMG. These data
will be colleted according to the "Surface and Ground Water Monitoring Plan" submitted
to the DMG with the Responses to DMG Comments letter of November 23,
1999.
(11)(c) Those analytical detection limits suggested by the office will be used. These
detection limits are included in the "Surface and Ground Water Monitoring Plan"
submitted to the DMG with the Responses to DMG Comments letter of November 23,
1999.
(12) Water Quality Monitoring Plan
A water quality monitoring plan "Surface and Ground Water Monitoring Plan" was
submitted with the Responses to DMG Comments letter of November 23, 1999.
(13) Climate
(13)(a) Climatic data were included in Exhibit K in the Application. Based on
information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, net lake
evaporation at the Project site is approximately 30 inches per year.
(13)(b) Regional climatic data were included in Exhibit K in the Application.
(14) Geochemical Data and Analysis
(14)(a) The material to be mined is almost pure sodium bicarbonate. Construction and
reclamation of the Project will disturb only surface soils and near surface bedrock. These
materials will not be exposed by mining. Soon after initiation of operations, a complete
analysis of the mining solution will be provided to the DMG as specified in the
Responses to DMG Comments letter of November 23, 1999.
(14)(b) The solution mining method to be employed by the Project will be conducted
through deep re- circulation wells, and not expose subsurface bedrock.
(14)(c) The material which will remain on surface after mining and reclamation will be
the same material as that on the surface before mining.
(14)(d) The mining method will expose neither ore nor overburden, and, therefore,
neither of these materials will be exposed to weathering.
November 23, 1999
6 AmerAlia, Inc.
