Pineda <br />Director <br />On 26 September 2011, the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, & Safety (Division or <br />Office) received your Notice of Intent (NOI) to Conduct Prospecting Operations P- 2011 -029. Our <br />review indicates that the NOI application contains deficiencies as defined by Rule 5.1.3 of the <br />Mineral Rules and Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. The Division requires the <br />information described below before authorization to commence prospecting can be granted. <br />1) PROJECT DESCRIPTION, Item III.2. Under "Amount of material to be extracted, moved, or <br />proposed to be moved" the applicant states "2,000.00." Please indicate the units (pounds, tons, <br />etc.) and where it will be disposed after extraction. <br />2) PROJECT DESCRIPTION, Item IIL5. The applicant states that an existing shaft will be <br />rehabilitated to provide a secondary escapeway and ventilation circuit. Is this the shaft that is <br />labeled as "London Butte Shaft" on Figures 2 and 3? <br />3) PROJECT DESCRIPTION, Item III.6.B. The depth of drill holes is indicated as 600 feet. Is this <br />a cumulative depth for all holes or the anticipated depth for each hole? <br />4) PROJECT DESCRIPTION, Item III.6.C. Please provide an estimate of how deep into the adit <br />and at what levels the rehabilitation activities will occur. Please indicate if any new underground <br />excavation will occur. <br />5) PROJECT DESCRIPTION, Item III.6.J. The information provided here is inadequate. The <br />applicant must: <br />a. provide the distance to the nearest stream. <br />b. provide any available information pertaining to depth of ground water and expected <br />dewatering requirements for the proposed work on the lower levels. If ground water <br />level information is not available, then the applicant must commit to logging the depth of <br />ground water interception in all drillholes approved and drilled under this NOI. <br />c. provide information pertaining to the discharge permit, including permit number, effluent <br />limitations, and discharge rates and how the existing permit will apply to the newly <br />proposed dewatering wells, and whether the dewatering well effluent will be treated <br />before discharge. 7 k <br />Office of <br />Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines <br />
