There were large cracks in the mortar as well as mortar and stones that had fallen out of
the chimney. The gap between the west side of the chimney and the house appeared to have been
caulked, however, this caulk was very weathered and cracked.
The paint on the window frames on the south side was very weathered and cracked. There were
some minor cracks in the paint between some of the exterior logs (siding). On the south side of the
residence, just east of the southwest corner of the foundation there were minor gaps between blocks
in the foundation. These mortar gaps and cracks are due to the temperature fluctuations in the
mountains of Colorado. There were also major gaps on the west side of the foundation to the north
of the southwest corner. These gaps were between blocks in the foundation. Some of these cracks
appeared to have been sealed at one time or someone had attempted to seal the cracks around the
mortar.
The paint on the west side around the window frames and on the siding was very weathered. There
were additional mortar cracks and gaps present in the foundation around the west and north sides of
the northwest corner.
The paint on the north side of the exterior was very weathered. There was crumbling and loosened
concrete around the bottom of the west most basement window on the north side. Evidence of crack
repair or attempted repair was also evident of the north side foundation. There was a cracked pane
of glass on the east side of the utility/laundry room. The paint on the east side around the window
frames and on the siding was very weathered.
Residence Interior
A minor crack was found in the kitchen ceiling. The crack was about three feet long near the wood
beam separating the kitchen and dining areas. Additionally a very long crack was noted in the
middle of the kitchen ceiling running from west to east throng} the light fixture. The linoleum
backing behind the stove was warped on the north end. There was a crack in the ceiling above the
basement door in the wallboard seam tape were it had split down the seam.
Two minor cracks were noted in the southwest bedroom (yellow paint) above the east side of the
closest door, extending from the corner of the door molding to the ceiling. A crack was also noted
in the wall above the entrance to the hallway on the west side of the top of the doorway. A smaller
crack was noted above the top of the east side of the doorway.
Some small cracking of the paint was noted in the hallway above the east side of the entrance into
the northwest bedroom.
