Mr. Wallace H. Erickson
Response to September 28, 2011 Cazier Memorandum
October 11, 2011
Page 6
• In order to confirm the capacity of the La Plata River Bridge in its current
configuration, and to assess the need for any improvements to the bridge,
Wildcat will implement a geotechnical work plan consisting of performing a
review of existing data, subsurface investigation, laboratory testing,
engineering analysis, conclusions regarding bridge capacity, and design
criteria recommendations. Specifically, Wildcat will perform the following:
DEN 97,629,168v1 10 -11 -11
o Drill two test borings to 20 feet or refusal at the abutments of the
bridge. Our engineer /geologist will log the borings and obtain
relatively undisturbed, bulk samples of the materials encountered.
Samples will be inspected to confirm field classifications and for
laboratory testing;
o Selected samples will be transported for laboratory testing
including moisture content, dry density, strength, classification,
grain -size distribution, and compaction tests;
o Perform engineering and geologic evaluations to develop
conclusions and recommendations regarding the following:
• Capacity of bridge and abutments;
• Design for bridge improvements, as necessary,
accommodate load bearing necessary for proposed mining
operations.
o Prepare a technical memorandum summarizing the results of the
work described above.
o Submit design for bridge improvements to DRMS, as necessary,
pursuant to the Technical Revision or Amendment process.
o After obtaining DRMS approval through the Technical Revision
or Amendment process, proceed with remainder of work plan.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 7.b.
Wildcat as deleted the first bullet.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 7.c.
Wildcat will replace the bullets in the "La Plata River Bridge" section at Page 9
of Exhibit 6.5 with the revised bullets shown supra in Response to Adequacy Issue No.
7.a.
GREENBERG TRAURIG, LLP a ATTORNEYS AT LAW ® WWW.GTLAW.COM
