Prince Albert Mine Plan of Operations Interim Management Plan <br />6.0 INTERIM MANAGEMENT PLAN <br />The Prince Albert Mine has a projected life of at least 10 years based on a work schedule of 5 to 7 <br />day work weeks and 10 to 12 hour work days. There are currently no plans for a period of extended <br />shutdown. This interim management plan has been developed in accordance with Section 3809.401 <br />of Title 43 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and addresses management of the Prince Albert <br />Mine site during any potential periods of temporary closure to prevent any unnecessary or undue <br />degradation to public lands. The plan detailed in this section is a contingency plan that will be placed <br />into effect in the event an extended period of inactivity at the site occurs. Issues that may have <br />negative affects on operations at the mine are listed below. <br />a. A significant decrease in the price of uranium ore or increase in the mining costs resulting in <br />uneconomic mining conditions. <br />b. A lack of adequate manpower to operate the mine efficiently. <br />c. Road closures due to weather or other causes. <br />d. Inadequate ore reserves or grade resulting in the need to conduct additional exploration <br />activities prior to further mine development. <br />e. Loss of a contract for selling ore. <br />f. Poor ground conditions, flooding, or other physical changes in the mine that may require re- <br />evaluation and modification of the mining method. <br />g. A shut down or significant problem that results in a reduction in uranium ore processing <br />capacity at the milling facility. <br />6.1 Stabilize Excavations and Workings <br />The underground workings are maintained in a stable condition in accordance with prudent work <br />practices and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations. The underground areas of <br />the mine will be periodically inspected during temporary closure. Roof bolts, mats, wire mesh, <br />cribbing and other types of support will be installed as needed to maintain the stability of the back <br />and ribs. Equipment will be removed from immediate working faces and from lower areas of the <br />mine where water may collect. The portal gates will be double locked to prevent unauthorized access. <br />6.2 Storage or Removal of Equipment, Supplies and Structures <br />Equipment and supplies will be maintained on site in secure areas during short-term closure periods. <br />Mining equipment will be parked underground and the portal gates will be locked. Some supplies <br />may also be moved and locked up underground. If the temporary closure period extends beyond six <br />months, then some or all equipment and supplies may be removed from the site to minimize potential <br />theft and or vandalism. <br />Rimrock Exploration and Development Page 24 of 27 <br />
