The BLM received a mining proposal in 2009 from Destiny Mining, LLC for a mining claim within a five -acre area of an 80- acre BLM parcel near Fairplay. The mining proposal is for a small combination placer gold, sand and gravel mining operation. A public scoping meeting was held in September 2009 to identify potential issues and environmental concerns. The BLM is now providing the Draft Environmental Assessment to the public for comment and review. Written comments can be mailed to BLM RGFO Comments, 3028 E.
