Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On -site <br />R - Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br />N - Processing Waste N - Topsoil <br />COMMENTS <br />This was an aerial inspection of the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine conducted by Jim Stark of the Colorado Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The pictures were taken by Harry Ranney, also with the Division, on the <br />morning of 26 September 2011. The Coal Ridge Mine has been reclaimed and has undergone a Phase II Bond <br />Release. The Division is currently reviewing the mine's application for Permit Renewal 6. The weather was clear <br />and the ground was dry. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour <br />4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials <br />4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br />- The backfilled and regraded portal and facility benches are well vegetated and appeared to be stable at the time <br />of the inspection. There was no erosion on the regraded slopes. There was no evidence of settling, slumping or <br />cracking in the backfill. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.053; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, <br />4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water <br />Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8, <br />Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />- The remaining pond was dry at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was well vegetated and stable <br />and no erosional problems were noted. <br />- The remaining ditches, which flow into the sediment pond, all appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. <br />The ditches were dry and there was no evidence of recent flow. <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and <br />Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />- The remaining road appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. The road along the west side of the mine <br />(up to the portal and facilities benches) was well defined, as it is used to access the area south of the mine for <br />hunting. The roads out onto the benches are filling in from lack of use.
