September 19, 2011 C- 1980 -001 /Edna Strip Mine JHB <br />ROADS — Rule 4.03 Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) <br />and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />The North access road remains in good condition. The intersection of the North access road and the <br />Moffat pond road has been graded were rilling damage had occurred this spring. This portion of the road has been <br />graded provide a smooth driving surface, runoff is directed into the roadside ditches and a portion of the roadside <br />ditch shaped to improve the ability of runoff to enter the ditch. A portion of the Moffat access road that had <br />developed rills has also been adequately graded to smooth out the rills. These repairs are acceptable to the <br />Division. <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />Repairs to the access road have been conducted as a result of runoff damage previously identified during <br />the Bond Release inspection in June 2011. Vegetation through our the mine site remains in good condition, Areas <br />treated for weed control for Whitetop, Canada thistle, Houndstongue and Musk thistle are showing evidence of <br />good weed mortality. Re- sprouting of weed species was not observed, even when walking throughout the <br />reclaimed areas. Individual noxious weed plants exist but not in quantities that would limit the ability of the <br />reclaimed areas to support the post- mining land use (Rule 4.15.7(5), 4.15.8(6), and 3.03.1(2)(b)). <br />Sediment ponds are functioning and in good condition. <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 <br />Page 3 of 7 <br />
