Permittee:
Permit #: M- 1977 -129
Operation Name: WHITEWATER 500 PIT
Anniversary Date: 09/22/2011
fluctuates as much as 3 feet leaving a 9 foot band of bank
slope above the normal lake level that does not support
vegetation. Whitewater plans to file a Technical Revision
this fall to address these minor landowner changes to the
approved Reclamation Plan.
See Map Sheet 2 of 2. No new sloping was done in the mined
parts of Stage 3 - PART B. The 1.70 acres completed last
year along the south side of the stage is stable. No
additional reclamation is required on areas north of the
river.
We estimate there is approximately 48,000 yards of
overburden stored in Stage 6 (not on map) and another
39,000 yards stored in Stage 3 - PART B (brown). These
piles are in a constant state of flux with material being
added and removed as needed. The settling ponds are still
being used to clean process water (dark blue).
Weed control continued this year in the areas around Phase
2- PARTS A & B and Stage 3 - PART A. We sprayed Knapweed and
White Top from April thru August in 2011 with water soluble
2 -4 -D and Curtails". A mowing program was also commenced to
aid in control. This is still an uphill battle since there
is little or no control taking place on properties
surrounding the mine and seed is being wind blown in from
offsite areas that we have no control over. Spraying will
continue as needed. The Government released beetles to
control the Tamarisk, it appears to be working. We
continue to monitor Tamarisk growth on the site and will
resume control work if it is warranted.
(3) Mining will continue in the stripped portions of Stage 3 -
PART B to supplement material being removed from the raw
material stockpile in Stage 6. Overburden will continue to
be stockpiled along the perimeter of the mined area.
(4) All bank sloping and grading is complete on areas mined to
date in Phase 2 - PART A. Additional seeding may be done as
needed on the seeded areas south of the river. We will
continue to slope around the mined area in Stage 3 - PART B
WHITI
