AUGUST 8, 2011 <br />MAY DAY MINE CLASS II - SUBMITTAL 2 REVIEW <br />PAGE 6 OF 15 <br />Based on the information outlined above, the following items are needed to prove that adequate <br />water supply exists for the proposed project: <br />1. Well permit for groundwater well (80CW133) <br />2. Affirmative comments from DOWR regarding water supply for the project <br />3. Aquifer pump testing and reporting to demonstrate quantity of water available from <br />groundwater wells <br />4. Water balance accounting for (1) estimate of water supply available based on status of water <br />rights (ie: seniority) and augmentation pond filling in dry and average years and (2) all uses <br />anticipated for the project <br />The comprehensive water balance should include at a minimum the items listed below. <br />1. Water each proposed well is anticipated to produce based on the aquifer pump test <br />2. Sources, quantities, rates, and timing of water filling the augmentation ponds and the process <br />ponds <br />3. Drilling/extraction demands <br />4. Evaporation losses from augmentation, process, and firefighting water storage ponds <br />5. Source and quantity of clean groundwater needed to keep the chemical concentration of the <br />recycled water at a level effective for leaching operations <br />6. Dust mitigation demands including specific areas and quantities of demands <br />7. Irrigation demands for reclamation of areas to be restored prior to mine closure <br />8. Sanitary needs <br />III. Review of Current Submittals <br />This section outlines information provided in current submittal for which clarifications are needed. This <br />is provided to identify sources for project understanding and basis for additional information requests. <br />Actual requests for additional information are consolidated in Section IV -VI (Submittals) below. <br />In this section, the numbers (1,2,3) include representations made in the submittals and the small letters <br />(a, b, c,) include county comments and questions. <br />A. Mining Plan, Exhibit D. Revised: April 14, 2011 <br />1. Page 1 states there will be three staging areas for the mine operations <br />a. Provide site and grading plans are needed (in the Construction Plan Set) for each of the <br />staging areas. <br />2. Page 1 states a staging area for crusher and material storage will be provided at base of new <br />access road but not in the wetlands area. <br />a. Show location and extent of staging area on site plan and road construction plans and <br />provide information regarding crusher usage in the narrative <br />3.
