This TR involves construction of
a new portal at the 9400 level and the infrastructure associated with surface support operations and
underground exploration. This will involve a new portal bench, a new access road up to the portal, and
several new structures on the 9360 level pad. The 9400 level portal bench will be composed of rock
generated during development of the proposed decline. Other proposed activities include re- opening the
ventilation raise /secondary escapeway (adjacent to FR 505), pumping water from behind the 9360 adit
bulkhead to the temporary holding pond #1 (a structure proposed under TR -17), and trucking water from
holding pond #1 to holding pond #2 (also proposed under TR -17).
Overall the TR submittal is very detailed and well - prepared, which is much appreciated by our staff.
Several questions and concerns have been identified during the Division's review, however, which must
be addressed; these appear in the following paragraphs. Please respond to each item below.
9400 Portal Face -up: The portal face -up will be rock - bolted and shotcreted. Please provide a brief
description of the anticipated width and height of the face -up surface, as well as the expected slope of the
cut. During reclamation, will the face -up be fractured and/or covered by the recontouring and grading?
This information will be used in the reclamation cost calculation.
Portal Steel Sets: Are the steel sets anchored to the ground or concrete footers? If so, please provide
brief description and dimensions.
Ventilation Raise (Section 3.4): This is an existing shaft to the Bulldog workings, that has been sealed
and the surface area reclaimed. File materials indicate that this is located in Area E. The TR states that
re- opening it will disturb 0.1 acre. Please provide brief description of the anticipated new disturbance
(such as topsoil stockpiling, stockpiling of cover materials, new collaring, shaft safety door, etc.). Please
provide the dimensions of the shaft. Also, since it is not shown on any of the TR maps, please provide a
map showing this feature in an opened condition and in its reclaimed condition.
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation
COLORADO
D I V I S I O N O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
— &—
SAFETY
Office of
Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
