Erickson
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining & Safety
Durango Field Office
691 CR 233, Suite A -2
Durango, CO 81301
Re: Response to August 19, 2011 Cazier Memorandum
Dear Wally:
Adequacy Issue No. 1.
I am writing on behalf of Wildcat Mining Corporation ( "Wildcat ") to respond to
the memorandum prepared by Tim Cazier addressing Geotechnical Stability Exhibit
matters for the May Day Idaho Mine Complex. As you have requested, I have re- stated
below each adequacy question, and then provided a substantive response.
Page 3 second paragraph, the applicant references Attachment D -2, Figure D -2 for steel
sets on the May Day No. 1 Portal. There are no steel sets mentioned or located in
Attachment D -2, Figure D -1 or Figure D -2.
a. DRMS found the naming and related references to work plans in Exhibit
D to be inconsistent, if not confusing. For example the green cut sheet for
the referenced Attachment D -2 is labeled "6.4.4 Exhibit D — Mining Plan,
Attachment 2 — Portal Collapse Repair Work Plan May Day No. 1". The
following cover sheet is labeled "Exhibit D, Attachment D -2 ". In
addition, all of the work plans with figures included start with Figure D-
1, Figure D -2, etc. As such, there are several figures labeled "D -1 ". Both
these practices are persistent through the rest of the work plan
attachments in Exhibit D.
Response to Adequacy Issue No. 1.
Wildcat is submitting a new Attachment D -2, Figure D -4, which clarifies the
conceptual location of the steel sets in relation to the May Day No. 1 portal, the portal
collapse, and the point of contact of the unconsolidated material and the bedrock.
