Marcia Talvitie
September 9, 2011
Page 2
Se and Mo. Also the data shown on Table 2.04.62 (page 10) do not match the information
presented on Appendix Table 2.04.6 -2 for Hg, Mo, and Se. On Table 2.04.6 -2 the sample
results are listed as soluble but they appear to be the total fraction. Please clarify these
discrepancies and ensure that there is consistency between Table 2.04.6 -2 and Appendix
Table 2.04.6.2.
At the top of the second page of Appendix Table 2.04.6 -2 the column for NHN11 -3 data is
incorrectly labeled NHN11 -1. Please correct this if appropriate.
S. The Division requested that the analytical laboratory reports for the data presented in
Table 2.04.6 -2 for the five (5) overburden sample holes (1 C, 3C, 695E, 697E and 775E)
for which data are provided from New Horizon 1 Mine Area be included as an Appendix
to the NHN permit application. These data were not provided in Appendix 2.04.6 -4 as
indicated in WFC's response. If available, please include the laboratory reports as
originally requested.
9 -10. Responses accepted.
2.04.7 Hydrology Description
2.04.7(1)
1. WFC did not correct the statement on page 2 as requested. Please correct the statement on
page 2 as follows: "Typical completion diagrams one each for the overburden, coal zone,
and underburden well completion monitoring zones are provided in Figure 1 of Appendix
2.04.7 -1."
2. WFC did not incorporate the information as requested. Table 1 in Appendix 2.04.7 -1 has
not been changed. The application should contain the specific well completion information
for each of the nine new monitoring wells. Table 1 in Appendix 2.04.7 -1 is titled "Proposed
Ground Water Monitoring Hole Locations and Depths" and contains "Estimated Monitoring
Hole Depths ". This table should be replaced since the wells have been drilled and
constructed. Please add a well completion information table to Appendix 2.04.7 -1 that at a
minimum contains the following information for each monitoring well: well
identification/location, formation monitored, total depth, well casing type and diameter,
ground elevation, casing stickup or measuring point elevation, and slotted interval.
3. Response accepted.
4. Response is accepted; however the reference to Appendix 2.04.7 -2 is incorrect and should
be changed to Appendix 2.04.7 -1 in the second paragraph of revised page 5 (at 2 locations).
5 -6. Responses accepted.
7. The Division identified the need for additional downgradient groundwater monitoring
