J -Birds Mine 110(d) Permit M- 2005 -050 Technical Revision 02
The Upper Dump will form the pad for the mining operation surface facilities and the banks for
the Upper Pond for surface water management. Side slopes for relevant areas of the Upper Dump
will be sloped at 3H:1 V during material placement.
6. The Ore Storage Pad location and configuration will remain as built by Bluerock.
2.0 EXHIBIT E MINING PLAN MAP REVISIONS
1. The changes described under Section 1 "Exhibit C Mining Plan Revisions" are graphically
depicted on the revised Exhibit E "Mining Plan Map" included as Attachment 1 to this revision.
3.0 EXHIBIT U ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PLAN REVISIONS
1. A total of four monitoring wells have been installed at the J -Birds Mine site area beginning in
April of 2010. One up- gradient well (Monitoring Well #1) was installed at the north- central
permit boundary in April 2010. This well was dry during installation and has been monitored on a
quarterly basis (as allowed by site accessibility) since installation, with all sampling events
yielding a dry well. A total of three down - gradient wells have been installed since April 2010 in a
progression south of the mine site area. Monitoring Wells #2 and #3 were completed in April
2010 and the latest well (Monitoring Well #4) was completed in August of 2011. These down -
gradient wells were installed ahead of the underground mine workings, which are progressing in a
southerly direction, at various intervals calculated to avoid the cone of depression exerted by the
underground excavation. The three down - gradient wells were all dry holes at the time of
installation and have been sampled on a quarterly basis (as allowed by site accessibility) since
their installation, with all well samples yielding a dry -hole result. The monitoring well locations
are depicted on the Attachment 2 "J -Bird Mine Monitoring Well Locations" map. A log of each
installed well is attached as Attachment 3 "J -Bird Mine Monitoring Well Logs."
2. The surface water management protocols at the J -Birds Mine were reviewed by Rimrock as a part
of this technical revision in order to assess their adequacy in light of the changes to the surface
facility layout for the mine site. The results of that review are discussed below.
a. The site drainage remains consistent with the original Exhibit U Environmental Protection
Plan submitted in 2009. The surface water runoff from the upper area is captured by the
Upper Pond and discharges to the natural offsite drainage channel located immediately
north of the pond location. Any surface runoff that bypasses the Upper Pond is captured
by a drainage channel that routes the runoff to the Lower Pond. Surface water runoff from
the lower area is routed by berms and diversion swales to the Lower Pond, which
discharges to the natural drainage located immediately west of the Lower Pond location
(see Attachment 1 revised Exhibit E "Mine Plan Map ").
Rimrock Exploration & Development Page 3 of 4
