3.13 BALLAST INSTALLATION <br />A. The Contractor shall install liner ballast within the pond to ensure that the <br />liner is stable. <br />B. The ballast shall be spaced at 30 foot centers perpendicular to the pond <br />slope contours and across the bottom of the pond. Ballast shall also be <br />placed along the toe of the slope of the berms. <br />C. The Contractor may present ballast option(s) of sufficient weight and <br />distribution to prevent uplift and wind damage to the exposed surfaces of <br />the pond liner. The ballast option(s) shall be such not to damage or <br />otherwise adversely impact the integrity and performance of the liner. <br />The ballast option(s) shall be placed assuming the pond is empty and it <br />shall be chemically stable to exposure to sunlight. Details and a plan <br />view of the Ballast option(s) shall be presented for review and approval by <br />the Engineer prior to the start of installation of the liner. <br />D. Temporary ballast placed by the liner installer for stabilization of the liner <br />during installation does not constitute an alternative to permanent ballast, <br />but may be included in the Contractor's option(s) submitted for review and <br />approval by the Design Engineer. <br />PART 4 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br />4.1 MEASUREMENT <br />A. All HDPE geosynthetic liner will be measured for payment per square <br />yard installed including all folding, seaming, and anchoring. <br />4.2 PAYMENT <br />A.
