B. All work shall be monitored and tested in compliance with the <br />requirements of Section 01450: Quality Assurance /Quality Control. <br />C. Contractor shall be aware of all testing activities required and shall <br />account for these activities in the construction schedule. <br />D. All soils testing (both field and laboratory) will be the responsibility of the <br />Design Engineer and CQA monitor. Contractor shall be responsible for <br />cooperating with the CQA Monitor during all testing activities. The <br />Contractor shall provide equipment and labor to assist the CQA Monitor in <br />sampling, if requested, and shall also provide access to all areas <br />requiring testing activities. QC testing shall be the responsibility of the <br />Contractor. <br />E. All excavation, backfill, and grading operations shall be carried out under <br />the observation of the Project Manager and CQA Monitor. <br />F. Any work found unsatisfactory or any work disturbed by subsequent <br />operations before acceptance is granted shall be corrected by Contractor <br />at it's sole cost. <br />PART2 PRODUCTS <br />2.1 EQUIPMENT <br />A. General — All equipment shall conform to the Manufacturer's <br />Specifications. The Contractor shall provide the proper equipment <br />necessary to complete the work as required in these Specifications and <br />as shown on the Drawings. Below is a partial list of suitable equipment <br />suggested for this work. The Contractor shall provide a complete list of <br />equipment to be used to complete the work. At a minimum, the list shall <br />include make, model, and intended use of the equipment. The Project <br />Manager and Engineer shall review the list for approval. The equipment <br />shall be maintained in good working condition at all times. <br />B. Vibratory rollers with: (a) single smooth drum steel, 60 -inch minimum <br />width compaction drums or (b) high speed tamping foot self propelled <br />compactors. The vibratory compactors shall have a minimum static <br />operating weight of 15,000 pounds. Each drum shall be capable of <br />producing a minimum centrifugal force of 22,000 pounds at a frequency of <br />vibration between 1,200 and 2,000 cycles per minute. Operate vibrating <br />compactors at the constant frequency of vibration, as determined by the <br />Engineer. <br />C. Caterpillar Model D8L dozer, or approved equal, fitted with standard track <br />as defined in the "Caterpillar Performance Handbook, 22nd Edition." <br />Maintain the track growsers at all times in such condition as to provide <br />efficient breaking and blending of the backfill materials. In no case, <br />however, shall the depth of the track growsers be allowed to wear down <br />to less than 50 percent of their depth when new, prior to being restored <br />and replaced. <br />Rio Grande Silver Tailings Evaporation Pond <br />August 2011 <br />02320 -3 <br />Earthwork <br />02320 <br />
