PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.1 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A. The work under this Specification includes all excavation, earthwork and <br />material requirements as shown on the Drawings for the pond subbase <br />preparation and berm construction. This work includes all excavations in <br />borrow areas and placement of fill as indicated in the Drawings. All work <br />shall be completed in accordance with these Specifications to the lines <br />and grades indicated on the Drawings. <br />B. The work under this section shall consist of excavation, disposal, <br />placement, and compaction of all material encountered within the limits of <br />the work, and not being completed under some other item, necessary for <br />the construction of the project in accordance with the Specifications and <br />the lines, grades, and typical cross - sections shown on the Drawings. <br />1.2 DEFINITIONS <br />SECTION 02320 <br />EARTHWORK <br />A. Unclassified Excavation — Excavation of all materials on site which do not <br />require blasting or other mechanical means to loose material for <br />excavation. Unclassified excavation includes excavation of borrow <br />materials and over excavation of foundations soils and unsuitable <br />materials as identified and approved by the Owner and /or Design <br />Engineer. <br />B. Liner Subbase — Any material exposed within the impoundment limits <br />below the geosynthetic liner as indicated on the Drawings. <br />C. Berm Fill — Material excavated, placed, and re- compacted to the original <br />ground surface to the lines and grades as indicated on the Drawings. <br />Berm fill required in excess of the excavation limits and in areas of no <br />excavations may be obtained from the identified borrow sources (see <br />Section 01142). All berm fill shall be inert material placed and compacted <br />as defined within these Specifications. <br />D. Anchor Trench Fill — Excavated material from the berm that is placed and <br />re- compacted within the backfill trench over the liner. <br />E.
