•
term "noxious weeds" as used herein includes of those species those found on the Colorado
Department of Agriculture website as found at:
http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite?c—Page&cid on as accessed on July 29, 2010, which has
been assembled per the provisions of the Colorado Weed Management Act. This site, contains
what is typically considered as the "official," "Colorado Noxious Weed List" which includes
three lists of noxious weeds, List A, List B and List C. Since this State list is more current than
the Montrose County Noxious Weed list, all species listed on the "Colorado Noxious Weed List"
as found on either List A, List B or List C, will be considered to be "noxious weeds" for
purposes this vegetation survey.
RARE AND ENDANGERED PLANT SPECIES.
Given the fact that this entire site consists of vegetation that has been disturbed by agricultural
activities for approximately one hundred and two years there was no need to evaluate the
potential presence of Rare and Endangered Plants beyond the evaluation found in WFC' s permit
section 2.04.10
RESULTS
VEGETATION SAMPLING
A detailed vegetation map of the proposed North Mine Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture
Vegetation Type was originally presented on Appendix Map 2.04.10 -1 - Permit Area Vegetation
Map. This evaluation documents that there are 37.33 acres of land which correspond to the;
Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture Vegetation Type. The map corresponding to this area
showing the location of the vegetation transects sampled in the 2010 sampling effort are
presented on Map 2.04.10 -5, 2010 Intensively Managed Irrigated Pasture - Vegetation Transect
Map.
Field Sampling Dates. All of the field data collected in this 2010 vegetation sampling effort
were collected on June 23 and 24, 2010. At the time of the field sampling, all of the plants were
actively growing and it is believed that the sampling was performed close to the period of
optimum plant growth, when the plant cover and production were near their peak. IME was
informed by Mr. Stan Garvey that they were anxious to cut the hay of this site and the sampling
was performed immediately before the site was hayed. A list of all of the plant species
encountered in this field sampling effort are presented in Appendix Table 2.04.10- 1, North Mine
- Plant Species List,
Sample Adequacy. A statistical summary of all of the data collected to characterize the plant
cover, production, and shrub density is presented in the following narrative. These calculations
document that a sufficient number of samples were collected to describe the parameters of "total
plant cover" and perennial herbaceous production, excluding annuals, biennials and noxious
weeds at the 90 percent confidence interval had been collected.
Transect Locations. The field locations of all of the cover, production and shrub density
transects sampled in this evaluation are shown on Map 2.04.10 -5, Intensively Managed Irrigated
Pasture - Vegetation Transect Map.
INTENSIVELY MANAGED - IRRI- GATED - PASTURE.
4
