August 25,2011 C-1994-082/Yoast Mine SLB
Ponds 010, 012 and 012A,013,and 014 all held water.
SLIDES and DAMAGE-Rule 4.12:
An excavator and bulldozer were working in the Pond 012 slide area,covering the north trench drain to
buttress the toe of the slide. The trench drains installed along the toe and beneath YPM 6-3 were both flowing.
The operator indicated that the slide slope above Pond 012 would be hydroseeded this fall. It is suggested that,
consistent with the plan outlined in Attachment 13-12B of the permit application, SCC wait until the area
stabilizes. The permit specifically allows SCC to wait until Northwest Colorado Consultants(NWCC)has
determined that the slope has been stabilized. Since there was considerable movement in this area this past Spring,
it would be best to give it one more season and then have NWCC reevaluate the area.
TOPSOIL—Rule 4.0611[]Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3;
Redistribution 4.06.4:
Topsoil was being redistributed on the reclaimed corridor of Haul Road A, immediately east of Pond 010
where rock had been stored. The replacement depth was approximately 9", and the area was roughly 150' x 50'.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 6
