water in this well is representative of the water RGS expects to encounter in the decline. Water
quality sample results are pending and will be forwarded to Colorado DRMS.
Pond Construction
Available growth medium material (12 to 18 inches) will be removed from pond areas and
stockpiled adjacent to areas where it is removed and will be located out of drainage areas to
prevent water erosion.
Berm fill shall consist of local borrow materials placed and compacted in accordance with a
method specification, as approved by the Project Manager and Design Engineer and where
shown on the Drawings. Compacted berm fill shall have a maximum particle size of 6 inches and
a lift thickness no greater than 12 inches.
Final topography and/or cross - sections will be surveyed of areas that are to finished grade and
compared to the design section for accuracy. The final surface shall be smooth and free of
protrusions, ruts, and open graded material. Liner subbase shall be prepared to the lines and
grades as indicated on the Drawings. The final surface is subject to approval by the liner installer
and the Design Engineer prior to placement of the geosynthetic liner
HDPE Liner Construction
The HDPE Liner will be installed by a certified installer.
Construction of the HDPE Liner or specified geosynthetics must be in compliance with the
design Drawings and Specifications. Rio Grande Silver shall implement a CQA monitoring and
testing program to ensure construction compliance by the Contractor. The QA program shall
consist of reviewing Contractor QC submittals, material conformance testing, and construction
monitoring and testing.
RECLAMATION
RGS will implement the same reclamation measures for the surface facilities of the proposed
underground exploration development work that are contained in the Stage 2 District -Wide
Exploration Program that was approved by the Forest Service in 2009 following the completion
of an Environmental Assessment.
The proposed Ponds #1 and #2 are on previously disturbed areas done by Homestake for its
Bulldog Mine operations and then reclaimed. RGS will contain its proposed facilities within the
boundaries of that previous disturbance. Past Homestake reclamation practices have shown that
the site can be successfully reclaimed.
5
