ENVIRONMENT, INC. PAGE 2
AUGUST 10, 201 1
(d) The original imported topsoil was delivered to the site during
2001 and importing will continue thru the life of the mine.
The existing topsoil pile came from Fox Run, a'low income
community developed by Grand County and was clean dirt
excavated from the building foundation areas.
(e) The imported materials will be used to resoil mined areas as
described in the Reclamation Plan or used for slope
reconstruction as discussed in the Inert Fill Notice. Using
imported growth medium will increase the chances'that
revegetation will be successful. Use of inert material to
create slopes allows Grand County to maximize utilization of
the gravel available at the mine.
(f) See the Inert Fill Notice document for this information.
5. Grand County will commit to protecting the topsoil and
overburden piles if they remain disturbed for more then 180
days as you suggest. We propose substituting 3.0 # -pls Western
Wheatgrass, that is a native seed, in place of the 3.0 # -pls
Crested Wheatgrass. Using a single seed is more cost
effective for the county then using an expensive seed mix when
temporarily seeding growth medium piles that may be disturbed
later.
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan (Rule 6.4.5)
6. As noted before we will use Western Wheatgrass instead of
Crested Wheatgrass. Find copies of revised pages 5 & 10
attached.
Exhibit R- Proof of Filing with County Clerk and Recorder (6.4.18)
7. Attached is a copy of the cover letter showing the adequacy
packet was placed with the Grand County Clerk and Recorder.
It included a copy of the Divisions adequacy review letter
also.
Thanks for your help on this permit and if you have any other
questions or need more information please call me.
Sincerely.,
Environment, Inc.
Stevan L. O'Brian
President
cc Grand County Department of Road and Bridge
Grand County Clerk
File
enclosures
