C -2010 -088 Fruita Loadout
3'd Preliminary Adequacy Review (MLT)
20 -Jul -2011
51m. Please add a Light Use Road typical section to Map 15 or Map 21 showing its
configuration in relation to the Rail Loop embankment for both cut and fill sections.
CAM responded that the light use road is shown on two cross sections on Map 12 and is
addressed in Exhibit 16, Note 4 of the Roadbed typical section. Response accepted.
2.05.3(4) Ponds and Impoundments
60a. Language addressing the requirements of 2.05.3(4)(a)(ii)(B) is provided on page 2.05 -18.
This section, regarding embankment construction, may not be required, since Ponds 1 and 2
are both incised. Please remove or revise, if appropriate.
CAM has opted to leave the language in the permit. Response accepted.
2.05.3(5) Topsoil
63a. In the last paragraph on page 2.05 -23, please indicate that soil samples were obtained during
May 2010 and March 2011.
Page 2.05 -23 was revised to indicate the additional dates of soil sampling Item resolved.
2.05.3(6) Overburden
Construction Material Borrow Area
63b.Page 2.05 -26 describes the borrow area and its potential uses. Might the material also be
used for embankment for the rail line and the roads? If so, please revise the list to include
these uses.
Page 2.05 -26 was amended to include rail and road embankment as a potential use. Item
resolved.
63c. Section G -G' on Map 12 indicates that the borrow area will be excavated to a depth of
approximately 10 feet. Soils test TCU 4 (Exhibit 7) was done by auger to a depth of 36
inches. No rock was found in the top three feet. Is rocky, pit run material expected to be
present between 3 and 10 feet? If so, is this a potential source for the pit run required for
road construction?
CAM responded that the sample name is TLO -4, and that rock is present at a depth in
excess of l5 feet. CAM does not anticipate borrowing pit run gravel from the
construction material borrow area. Item resolved.
2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
65a. The second paragraph of (1) on page 2.05 -29 states that the construction material stockpile
will not be restored... The use of "stockpile" seems to be erroneous — please replace with
the words "borrow area" if appropriate.
The term stockpile was replaced by borrow area on page 205 -29. Item resolved.
