Observed manganese concentrations in
ARwell exceed the secondary drinking water standard listed in Table 2 of the CBSG, with an
average concentration of 0.21 mg /I. To prevent further degradation that would threaten the
quality of surface water, an alternate NPL for manganese has been selected using existing
ambient quality as of January 31, 1994.
Table 4 -1 lists the parameters to be measured and the applicable NPL. The methodology for
determining whether an analytical result exceeds the NPLs is discussed in Section 5.
•
•
Water Quality Monitoring Plan Climax Molybdenum Company
Permit No. M- 1977 -493
Version: R1
EPP — Appendix C
Table 4 -1 — ARwell Numeric Protection Limits
Notes:
Table 1, CBSG: Domestic Use Human Health Standards
Table 2, CBSG: Domestic Use Secondary Drinking Water Standards
Ambient: Mean concentration of first five samples collected subsequent to January 31, 1994.
4.2.2 Eagle River Watershed
The POC for this watershed is anticipated to be EVMW -3, a proposed new well below the 4
Dam Seepage collection system and upgradient of the East Fork of the Eagle River. A baseline
dataset will be collected prior to the establishment of the NPLs to be used. The expanded
baseline parameter list is presented in Section 4.1.1. Table 4 -2 lists the parameters anticipated
to be measured at this well following the baseline period. The baseline dataset will be collected
over a 2 to 2 'h year period to provide a minimum of 5 samples. Following collection of the
baseline data, results will be reviewed to verify or modify the routine monitoring parameters, and
August, 2011 14
