Please see attached modified Technical Revision 1 Map "Exhibit C -2 Mining Plan Map" showing
areas of proposed current weed control. Locations and extent are approximate and will be field
verified during the application procedures.
CORRECTIVE ACTION 2: Topsoil stockpiles located on the permit area do not have proper established
vegetative cover to preclude erosion and to protect them from weed infestation.
RESPONSE TO VEGETATIVE COVER FOR TOPSOIL STOCKPILES: ASCI proposes to re -work the
topsoil piles on the permit area with heavy equipment to gain access for equipment to vegetate
the slopes, "smooth -out" the surface areas, and plow -under the dead weeds that currently exist
on the piles which will expose more of the soil for seed germination and success. This activity
would be accomplished in winter 2011 -2012. Following re- working of the topsoil stockpiles,
ASCI proposes to hydroseed /hydromulch the stockpiles with a rapid - growing temporary
vegetative cover.
The only seed mix specified in the approved permit is for final reclamation. The proposed seed
mix for the temporary vegetative cover on the stockpiles will consist of
• 15 PLS oats
• 5 PLS annual rye
• 3 PLS crested wheatgrass
• 2 PLS hard fescue
= 25 PLS per acre (PLS- pounds live seed):
There will be minimum of approximately 3 acres and a maximum of approximately 4.5 acres to
seed. Seeding will occur in early to mid -March 2012 in order to receive some late spring
moisture in the form of snow in March and April for successful seed germination and
establishment. The seed mix will be contained in a hydromulch slurry consisting of 100% wood
mulch at 2,000 lbs. /acre and 150 lbs. /acre of tackifier. Water will be obtained from the onsite
water - filled gravel pit. A copy of the paid invoice for this work will be provided to the DRMS
upon completion of the work.
Please see attached modified Technical Revision 1 Map "Exhibit C -2 Mining Plan Map" showing
areas of proposed revegatation. Locations and extent are approximate and will be field verified
during the seeding procedure.
