EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN - TECHNICAL REVISION
July 2011
Mining operations will continue as in the past with aggregate removal by dozer and
front -end loaders. The front -end loaders will load a portable crusher.
Aggregate extraction operations in the future will continue from the present pit location,
in Section 27, with the extraction face progressing north towards the northerly boundary
of the permitted area. Since the current pit has been in operation for over thirty years,
we fell the remainder of the permitted area will be sufficient for years to come. Lake
County owns approximately 650 acres of land surrounding the permitted area on all
sides of the county permitted area. There are no permanent structures on site or within
200 feet.
Prior to any slopes being ready, the topsoil will be placed in berms at the edge of the pit
in preparation to be place on the slope face upon reclamation. A final maximum pit
depth of 45 ft may be obtained if no water is encountered. Our intention is to mine
above the water table so the water will not be exposed and no subsurface waters will be
impacted. Final slopes within the mined out pit area will be no steeper than 3:1 (H:V).
The Airport pit aggregate will principally be used to make road base. We have a
portable cone crusher, screen and conveyors that will be located at the pit when
stockpiling of aggregate is necessary. Periodically, sand may be crushed from this pit to
be utilized on public roads.
The Airport pit will also be utilized to collect used asphalt reclaimed from paved roads
within the County. The asphalt will be run through our crusher and screen plant
producing a recycled road base material that can be utilized on public roadways. The
County presently has approximately 2500 cubic yards of this material stored on the pit
property. The County will process this material in the mornings and late in the year
when temperatures are below 60 degrees so the material does not become soft and
clog the plant. Lake County will not store more than 3000 cubic yards of material on
site. Lake County will continue to process existing stored material in order to keep the
stored quantity to a minimum.
Lake County may store equipment for mining operations, which may include storage
trailer, support vehicles and items commonly associated with gravel pit operations.
Mobile equipment may be temporarily located on the site including dump trucks, loaders
and scrapers
