ame
right of centerline. Structural fill was placed in 10" to 24" lifts using various CAT dozes. Each
lift was moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted
using a l0 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4
times (method compaction technique was applicable).
D) Soil Liner Fill
1) VLF
Soil liner fill (SLF) placement continued in the areas shown on Figure 2. One CAT 385
excavator loaded 40 ton articulating and CAT 777 haul trucks from the temporary stockpile
locations. Subgrade was approved and moisturized prior to placement using a tandem -axel
water truck. Placement was performed using a CAT D -6 LGP dozer, a CAT D -7 dozer, and a
CAT skid steer loader in a one -foot compacted lift. Moisture conditioning of SLF material was
performed using a tandem -axel water truck and compaction was achieved using a 10 -ton
vibratory smooth drum compactor. Nuclear density testing, moisture verification, and depth
checks were all performed, producing results within project specifications. Test locations were
surveyed by Ames.
E) Low Volume Solution Collection System
1) Low Volume Solution Collection Fill (LVSCF)
Finishing of the LVSCF surface continued in front of the geomembrane deployment using a
skid steer loader.
III F) High Volume Solution Collection System
1) High Volume Solution Collection Piping
Placement of the high volume collection system continued at the DCF placement area shown
on Figures 5a and 5b, advancing in front of the placement. CPeP was placed and sandbagged in
accordance with design drawings and project specifications. The primary geomembrane in the
area was accepted prior to pipe placement.
Placement of the high volume solution collections risers was performed. The risers were placed
using a boom truck. A survey prism was placed on top of each riser section and used to ensure
each section was plumb before welding them into place. The installation was observed and
inspected by an AMEC field representative and found be constructed in accordance with the
design drawings and project specifications.
Construction of the 26" high volume solution collection piping was performed fusing the
previously perforated pipe sections together. Placement of the 26" high volume solution
collection piping was performed placing nine sections of 26" pipe were placed starting at the
manifold heading north. Approximately 360 lineal feet of the pipe was installed. Backfilling of
the pipe was performed after placement. AMEC field representatives observed the pipe
placement and backfill. Pipe installation was found to be constructed in accordance with the
design drawings and project specifications.
2) Drain Cover Fill (DCF)
Drain cover fill (DCF) placement within the Phase 5 VLF continued. DCF was placed in the
area show on Figures 5a and 5b. The DCF was hauled from the processing area to the
VLF Weekly Report WE 10.09.10.D
