Re: Edna Mine, C1980 -001, Permit Renewal No.6, Preliminary Adequacy Letter
Dear Mr. Tarazoff:
The Division has reviewed Chevron Mining Inc.'s application for permit renewal of the Edna Mine,
C1980 -001, Permit Renewal application No. 6. The Division has the following comments or concerns:
1. The Division has identified discrepancies in the Permit Renewal application Acreage values. The
applicant's total for total disturbed area, affected area, permit acreage, and private surface acreage do
not agree with the Division's database. The Division's database was last corrected on September 20,
2000. Please bring Chevron's acreage values into agreement with the Division's database.
The Division received comments from the Colorado Historical Society (SHPO) on June 2, 2011. The
SHPO noted four cultural sites, three sites deemed not eligible for listing on the National Register of
Historic Places, and a fourth site that was unevaluated. If the sites are proposed to be within areas
proposed for disturbance, the Division would need to consult with SHPO. Since there is no new
disturbance proposed with this renewal, and all areas remaining within the permit area are reclaimed,
permanent structures, or previously received final bond release, no further action regarding historic or
cultural resources is required.
The groundwater and surface water sections of the permit were reviewed for compliance with Rules
2.05.3(4), 2.05.6(3), 2.06.8, and 4.05. The operator reported to CDPHE and the Division exceedances
