Prince Albert Mine 110(d) Permit Application Exhibit U - EPP <br />U (5) Designated Chemical(s) Evaluation <br />Chemicals that meet the regulatory definition of Designated Chemical will not be used in the Prince <br />Albert mining operations. <br />U (6) Designated Chemical(s) and Material(s) Handling <br />This section details the specific material handling and reclamation procedures for those materials and <br />areas at the mine site that are subject to special handling procedures based upon the site status as a <br />designated mining operation. The materials that qualify for this special consideration are limited to <br />uranium ore, sub -ore (waste rock), and potential leachate from these two materials because the use of <br />designated chemicals is not planned for the Prince Albert Mine operation and the geochemistry data <br />indicates that acid -mine drainage will not occur. The material handling procedures for each material are <br />detailed below followed by the reclamation procedures for each category and location. Note that ground <br />water and surface water are covered under Sections U (8) and U (9), respectively. <br />U (6.a) Uranium Ore <br />Uranium ore is subject to special handling and reclamation procedures since it meets the definition of a <br />toxic material under the regulations. <br />U (6.a.1) Ore Stockpile <br />Mine -run uranium ore is placed in a stockpile on the surface prior to shipment to the milling facility. The <br />surface storage pad for the uranium ore at the Prince Albert Mine has previously been constructed on an <br />existing large rock outcrop as part of the bulk sample collection process under Prospect NOI P- 2005 -21 <br />and consists of an existing 40 ft x 90 ft. stockpile area and down - gradient sump. The rock outcrop base <br />under the ore stockpile is eight (8), or more, feet thick and limits the downward migration of uranium <br />from the stockpile. Direct precipitation runoff sheet flows from the ore stockpile to the down gradient <br />sump for collection. The sump is sized to contain a direct precipitation run off volume that is the <br />equivalent of the 10 -year 24 -hour storm event. Any volume of run off that exceeds the 10 -year 24 -hour <br />event will run down the mine access decline and be contained within the underground workings. There <br />will be no discharge of run off from the ore stockpile location to areas outside of the permitted area. Note <br />that sediments in run off from the ore stockpile area will not contain any mineralization that is more <br />significant than the mineralization that remains in the underground areas of the mine after the extraction <br />of the uranium ore. Sediments that precipitate in the sump from run off are periodically removed from the <br />sump using a skidsteer loader and deposited on the ore stockpile for shipment to the milling facility. <br />Note: The geochemical analysis of a typical ore sample is discussed in Section U (10) "Geochemical <br />Data" and the SPLP laboratory analysis of the sample is included as Figure U.10.3 to the EPP. <br />Rimrock Exploration & Development Page 21 of 39 <br />
