SITE DESCRIPTION EXHIBIT B (owNT)
PERMANENT MAN -MADE STRUCTURES
Highway 160 ROW on the north side of the property is the only
structure within 200 feet of the affected lands. There are no above
or below ground communication or power lines, fences, bridges,
wells, pipelines, water storage impoundments, railroad tracks,
cemeteries or communication antennas within 200 feet of the
affected lands.
WATER RESOURCES
There are no water structures on the site. The closest
stream is the Rio Grande River that at its closest point is
approximately 250 feet south of the site. Review of well data from
the Office of the State Engineer's files on the surrounding area
indicate the highest ground water table is associated with the
river alluvium. That is approximately 15 feet below the proposed
floor level of the mine. As our plan is to process material from
the stockpiled material on site, there will be no subsurface
excavation, therefore no ground water will be exposed. There is no
hydraulic connection between the area under the mine and the
rivers alluvial aquifer. We do not expect to encounter ground
water on this site for that reason. We will not affect the
hydrologic balance or the surface or subsurface water in the
area.
MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C
6.3.3 -This is a stockpiled mining operation, the mine is
located approximately 5.9 miles west of South Fork, Colorado and
100 feet south of highway 160. From South Fork, Co., follow US HWY
160, 5.9 miles west to entrance gate on the south side of the road,
thru the gate bare left along this road to the pit area. The
location of the entrance is shown on the vicinity map exhibit
supplied with this application. The material to be mined is the
stockpiled material left from previous CDOT road jobs. The purpose
of this permit is to clean up the stock piled material and make it
into saleable material, and bring the property back to a more
natural looking state.
The entrance road is an existing well graveled road, this road
will be maintained and used after the mining operation is complete.
We anticipate the life of this mine to be between 3 and 5
years, depending on the amount of material in the stockpiles and
the market demand. The site is currently used as rangeland and
consists of a gravel terrace paralleling the north side of the Rio
Grande River. The useable material is stockpiled on site.
21
