ame0
Earth & Environmental
C) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
D) Soil Liner Fill
1) VLF
Soil liner fill (SLF) placement continued in the areas shown on Figure 2. Subgrade was
approved and moisturized prior to placement using a tandem -axle water truck. Placement was
performed using one CAT D -6 dozer and one CAT skid steer loader in a one -foot compacted
lift. Moisture conditioning was performed using a tandem -axle water truck and compaction
was performed using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. Nuclear density testing,
moisture verification, and depth checks were performed in the geomembrane deployment areas
throughout the week. All test results were within project specifications and all test locations
were surveyed by Ames.
Soil liner fill material was hauled and stockpiled in temporary stockpiles near stations A26 +00
( + / -) and H27 +00 ( + / -) using CAT 777 and 10 ton articulating haul trucks loaded by a CAT
385 excavator. The SLF was hauled from the East Cresson Clay process.
E) Low Volume Solution Collection System
1) Low Volume Solution Collection Piping
Placement of the low volume solution collection system continued at the LVSCF placement
area shown on Figure 5, advancing in front of the placement. Four -inch CPeP was placed and
sandbagged in accordance with design drawings, constructing the mainline and the tertiary
lines. The secondary geomembrane in the area was accepted prior to pipe placement.
2) Low Volume Solution Collection Fill (LVSCF)
Low volume solution collection fill (LVSCF) material placement within the Phase 5 VLF
continued. LVSCF was placed in the area show on Figure 5. The LVSCF was hauled from the
processing area to the placement area using CAT 740 haul trucks loaded by a 988 front -end
loader. The LVSCF was placed in a 3 -foot lift a CAT D -8 LGP dozer, except were haul routes
were established. Haul routes consisted in five -foot lifts, to be spread into 3 -foot lifts later.
Laborers were present at all times during placement holding the low volume solution collection
piping in place, removing debris /sandbags, and assisting the dozer operator with lift thickness.
All LVSCF was placed on previously approved secondary geomembrane. AMEC field
representatives observed placement constantly.
F) High Volume Solution Collection System
1) High Volume Solution Collection Piping
Placement of the high volume collection system continued at the DCF placement area shown
on Figure 6, advancing in front of the placement. CPeP was placed and sandbagged in
accordance with design drawings and project specifications. The primary geomembrane in the
area was accepted prior to pipe placement.
VLF Weekly Report WE 07.31.10.D
