amec
Earth & Environmental
V) VLF Geosynthetics
Three loads of 100mil LLDPE geomembrane were delivered to site during the week for a total of 33
rolls. All loads were delivered on flat bed trucks in good condition. The rolls were unloaded using a
CAT 966 front -end loader with forks attached. The geomembrane was placed on three pieces of 4"
HDPE pipe, staked two rolls high. An AMEC field representative was present at all times during
unloading of the geomembrane. The AMEC representative also inventoried the geomembrane as it
was unloaded.
The Phase IV geomembrane was exposed between stations G12 +00 ( + / -) and G21 +30 ( + / -),
approximately 150 feet left of centerline using a John Deere 35D excavator and two laborers. This was
performed in order prepare for the tie -in. An AMEC field representative was present at all times
during geomembrane exposure.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed structural fill placement within the Phase 5 VLF fill area. Ambient temperatures were
monitored during fill placement.
• AMEC inspected and approved subgrade for SLF placement within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed, obtained moisture samples, and assisted in the placement of SLF material within the
Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed stripping topsoil at the East Cresson Clay Borrow.
AMEC observed, obtained samples, and assisted in the process of SLF material at the East Cresson Clay
Borrow.
AMEC observed, obtained samples, and assisted in the process of LVSCF at Pad 4.
AMEC observed and inventoried geomembrane delivered from Polyflex to site.
AMEC observed the exposure of the Phase IV geomembrane constantly.
Testing Summary
Laboratory testing continued (Particle Size Distribution, Atterberg Limits, Moisture - Density Relations,
Specific Gravity, Permeability, and Point Load testing) for sampled materials.
GENERAL PROJECT ITEMS
Summary of Concerns:
No concerns
VLF Weekly Report WE 05.08.10.D
