APPLICATION FOR UNDERGROUND WATER RIGHTS,
CHANGE OF WATER RIGHTS, AND REQUEST FOR
APPROVAL OF PLAN FOR AUGMENTATION
Page 10 of l2
iii) Out -of- priority evaporative depletions: Depletions from the
McCurter Lake Pit Well will equal 61.83 a.f. annually. A table
outlining the monthly evaporative depletions, as well as the timing
of their impacts on the Gunnison River, is attached as Exhibit 10
iv) Out -of- priority industrial depletions: The depletion associated
with industrial use is 15.74 a.f. annually, which, due to delayed
impacts, could result in a maximum of 16.39 a.f. depletions to the
Gunnison River. A table outlining the extent and timing of those
depletions is attached as Exhibit 11.
v) Operation of the plan: Applicant will augment out-of-priority
depletions from evaporation and industrial use through the dry -up
of 37 acres of formerly irrigated land under the East Creek Ditch
and the Star Enlargement of the East Creek Ditch, as well as
tluough the dry up of 77 acres of formerly irrigated land under the
Wadlow Pumping Plant.
Although the potential call period for the Senior Redlands Right
during the 2002 -2003 drought did not include any call days during
the months of May - October, Applicant has dedicated 34.56 a.f. of
dry -up credits from the East Creek Ditch to provide protection in
the event of a drought exceeding the severity of the 2002 -2003
event. Similarly, although the potential call period for the Junior
Redlands Right during the 2002 -2003 drought did not include any
call day during the months of July- October, Applicant has
dedicated 7.22 a.f. of dry -up credits under the Star Enlargement of
the East Creek Ditch and 60.71 a.f. of dry -up credits under the
Wadlow Pumping Plant to protect against more severe future
droughts. A table outlining the monthly allocation of dry -up
credits is attached as Exhibit 12. A table outlining the water
balance for evaporative depletions and industrial use is attached as
Exhibit 13.
Applicant will address out -of- priority depletions during the
nonirrigation season through a water supply contract with the
Bureau of Reclamation for releases from Blue Mesa Reservoir, As
shown in the attached Exhibit 13, the water supply contract
necessary to address out -of- priority depletions during the non -
irrigation season will require Applicant to obtain a water supply
contract from Blue Mesa Reservoir for 20 a.f. Historic irrigation
return flows including surface runoff and deep percolation
associated with the 37 -acre dryup will be maintained to ensure
downstream water rights holders are protected from injury.
Irrigation diversions formerly taken to irrigate the 37 acres will
