June 16, 2011 C- 1991- 078/Hainilton Mine MLT
on the ground between the location of the former stockpile and the Haul Road to Mining
Area No. 3.
• By email from Jim Stove, P.E. on June 2, 2011, the Division was informed that the
landowner requires that all fencing be removed from the permit area at or following final
bond release.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
• Vegetative cover in the reclaimed Mining Area No. 1, Mining Area No. 3, and Facilities
Area appears to be having a productive season. Precipitation records for the area show a
series of light rainfalls occurred during the month of May.
• Four -wing saltbush shrubs do not appear to have regained their vigor following the cold
winter. A large percentage of the branches were devoid of leaves (Photo 1).
• The eastern end of the Pond B embankment continues to support Whitetop and Cheat grass
(Photo 2). Desirable species do not appear to be making headway.
• Those areas reclaimed in late 2010 are dominated by Russian thistle, with occasional sprigs
of Winterfat (Photos 3 and 4). No cool- or warm- season grasses were observed.
• No stands of Russian knapweed were observed during this inspection. Weed control efforts
initiated in 2009 are having a noticeable impact on the presence of noxious weeds.
The inspection concluded at 13:10.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 Page 3 of 7
