COMMENTS
This was a Complete Inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted by Marcia Talvitie of the
DRMS beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011. Skies were clear, and the
temperature was approximately 90 F with a stiff breeze.
The inspection began with a review of the mine's records, which are stored at the nearby Broad
Canyon Landfill office.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
• A completed DRMS Availability of Records Form is included with this report.
• There are a number of newer reports and documents that have not yet been deposited at the
records site.
• In addition, the Certificate of Liability Insurance had expired. (Honeywood provided a new
certificate on Monday, June 20, 2011.)
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05

• Ground conditions everywhere within the permit area were dry; there was no evidence of
recent precipitation.
• Inlet and outlet ends of all culvert pipes were clear.
• Pond B was dry, and the primary and emergency spillways were clear.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
• Sediment Pond A and the associated collection ditch to the west were graded, topsoiled and
seeded in late 2010. The reclaimed areas are stable, with no indication of erosion by wind or
water having occurred. No rills or gullies were observed.
• With the reclamation work, a portion of the fence protecting Topsoil Stockpile No. 2 was
removed. Two coils of downed fence wire, as noted on a previous inspection report, were left
