June 8,2011 C-1 981-044/Williams Fork Mines JRS <br /> needed to be cleaned and/or repaired. This work has not yet been completed. Brain indicated that they would <br /> have their summer help clean the culverts they could clean by hand and that they would use other equipment to <br /> clean and repair the remaining culverts. This work needs to be completed before the summer is over. <br /> ROADS—Rule 4.03Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and <br /> Maintenance4.03.1(5)and(6)/4.03.2(5)and(6)Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> The haul roads around the site were all well maintained and stable at the time of the inspection. The small gully <br /> that has formed on the edge of the haul road on the east side of the mine still needs to be repaired. Brian indicated <br /> that they would repair that portion of road when they had equipment on site to clean and repair the culverts. <br /> RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15,Rule 3: <br /> -Much of the reclaimed and revegetated areas were walked on this inspection to check the status of the Russian <br /> Knapweed problem and other weeds. There was still no sign of any of the Russian Knapweed in the areas where it <br /> was prevalent last year. There were old,dead plants but no signs of any of the florets growing at this time. The <br /> operator will need to closely monitor the revegetated areas of the mine site and spray the knapweed as needed this <br /> summer. <br /> -There were several patches of white top noted in the field just north of the mine water discharge ponds. There <br /> were also several patches of white top noted along the haul road on the west side of the mine and by pond SH-P2. <br /> Brian indicated that they have contracted to have these areas sprayed and the spraying would be completed in the <br /> next couple of weeks. <br /> -There is hound's tongue along the haul roads and refuse piles on the east side of the mine,predominately. There <br /> were also scattered plants on the west side of the mine(in particular by the pump area for the mine dewatering <br /> pump). These areas are also scheduled to be sprayed. <br /> -There were scattered thistle plants noted around the site. Thistle that has been seen in the past includes bull, <br /> Canadian,musk and Scotch. The thistle is also scheduled to be sprayed. <br /> SIGNS AND MARKERS—Rule 4.02: <br /> -The operator has marked the area where they will place the new Mine ID signs at the entrance points along <br /> Colorado Highway 13. One new location included the main mine entrance on the east side of Hwy 13, as <br /> requested by the Division.
