June 6,2011 C-1982-057/Seneca II-W Mine SLB
TAHRC 6A,between the TAHR outslope and TAHRC 12 outlet, and on the outlet side of TAHRC 16.
Houndstongue was observed around Pond 016. The operator needs to spray these patches before they produce
seed.
SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12:
The slides in the immediate vicinity of Pond 006 have continued to move since the last(May 16)
inspection. The toe bulge of one of the slides is moving toward the emergency spillway of Pond 006; the operator
should continue to monitor this area to ensure that the spillway is not compromised. The two inlet area slides
should also be monitored to ensure that the required pond capacity is maintained.
The slides in and around Pond 016 and Pond 016A also do not appear to have stabilized. There had been
additional movement in the area between the two ponds, and a new bowl shaped slide was observed in the lower
south slope of the 016 drainage, as well as a slide at the top south side of the drainage.
A small slide was observed along Haul Road K, approximately 1000' south(along the road) from culvert K-1.
A large slide in the north mining area(Pit D) extends 1,400' from approximately Stock Tank T20 to the property
line/fence corner to the west.
Small slumps were observed in the sideslopes of Pond 015.
A slump and linear crack were observed above Pond 017, on the north side of the drainage, beginning at the pond
inlet, and extending about 150' up the slope. Approximately 75' of the fissure extends into an undisturbed area.
Small slumps were also apparent in the PM channel between T25 and Pond 017, and at the inlet of T25.
Two small slumps were observed on the north slope above the upper reach of PM3.
There were small slumps on the east side of the TAHR at the overhead powerline crossing.
The operator discussed a possible relocation of the MEHR around Pond 006 to move it away from the inlet area
slides, and also discussed the possibility of removing road LU-2 above the well pumphouse slide.
Representatives from the Division are planning to schedule an on-site meeting with DRMS,the operator(and the
operator's consultant, at his discretion),and personnel from the Colorado Geological Survey sometime in July to
assess the areas of instability, the likely cause(s)and possible solutions to the problem(s).
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 10
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 4 of 9
