amecwO
C) Anchor Trench
1) VLF
Excavation of the existing anchor trench was performed between stations E0+00 (+/-) and
E9+00 (+/-) and between stations K1+50 (+/-) and K6+00 (+/-) was performed to allow for soil
liner fill (SLF) placement in the area. This was performed using a John Deere 35D and
laborers. An AMEC field representative observed the anchor trench excavation constantly. The
full depth of the anchor trench was excavated were saturated SLF was encountered.
Anchor trench backfill was performed between stations E0+00 (+/-) and E9+00 (+/-) and
between stations K1+50 (+/-) and K6+00 (+/-) using a John Deere excavator, a vibratory plate
compactor, and laborers. This was performed to replace any saturated SLF removed from the
trench An AMEC field representative observed the backfill and it was found to be performed
in accordance with design drawings and project specifications.
D) Geomembrane Acceptance
1) VLF
No geomembrane was deployed or accepted during the week.
E) Geomembrane Delivery
1) VLF
One load (11 rolls) of 80mil LLDPE single sided textured geomembrane rolls were delivered
to site during the week. The load was delivered on a flat bed truck in good condition. The rolls
were unloaded using a forklift. The geomembrane was placed on three pieces of HDPE pipe,
stacked two rolls high. An AMEC field representative inventoried the geomembrane and was
present at all times during unloading of the geomembrane.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed structural fill placement within the Phase 5 VLF fill area. Ambient and fill temperatures
were monitored during fill placement.
AMEC observed slope contouring within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed compaction of subgrade.
AMEC observed the construction of the leak detection trench.
AMEC observed the exposure of previously installed geomembrane.
AMEC observed the excavation and backfill of the existing (temporary) Phase 5 anchor trench.
VLF Weekly Report WE 05.28.2011
