Try 14
Ll? -1
Technical Revision - -Irv. z"i/ '/
Pikeeview Quarry
4-1977-211
kastle Concrete Company
May 2011
PURPOSE OF REVISION: This revision is sought to extend Castle Concrete's submittal of its
amendment to the comprehensive mining and reclamation plan from May 2011 to May 2012.
This extension will allow Castle Concrete to continue with its investigative work within the
Pikeview Quarry permit boundary and obtain, as necessary, access to US Forest Service lands
required to complete reclamation.
Castle Concrete was ordered by the Mine Land Reclamation Board in a June of 2009 Cease and
Desist Order to submit an amendment to the comprehensive mining and reclamation plan for the
quarry by May 2010. In June 2010, the Mine and Land Reclamation Board granted a one year
extension to submit an amendment to the comprehensive mining and reclamation plan because
the quarry was still unstable and Castle Concrete was unable to complete its investigation.
Castle Concrete's investigation continues because the Pikeview Quarry continues to be very
unstable.
REASON FOR REVISION: Castle Concrete was in the process of formulating the amendment
to the comprehensive mining and reclamation plan for the Pikeview Quarry to be submitted in
May of 2011. However, significant movement was observed within the quarry since May 2010.
It was initially thought that the largest amount of movement was going to be limited to the south
end of the quarry (exhibits 1 and 2). However since May 2010, we have observed more
movement in the middle of the quarry (exhibits 3, 4, 5 and 6).
Based on these observations Castle Concrete has retained a geotechnical expert who is in the
process of investigating the movement and designing proper reclamation which may include the
need for Castle Concrete to access additional US Forest Service property (exhibit 7).
Although Castle Concrete had previously been granted a one year extension of time to submit the
amendment to the comprehensive mining and reclamation plan, an additional year has been
requested to obtain additional geologic information, conduct additional investigation regarding
the stability of the quarry, and design a proper reclamation plan.

"JON 0 6?-otj
XtDivision of Rs-,.,,r. imon,
' Raj ng and, S fe?q
